Is Chiropractic care right for me?
This is a very common question that Chiropractors hear from many hesitant new patients coming into their clinic, and it is indeed a very important one at that.
As your Chiropractor, the top priority is making sure that you are a good candidate for chiropractic care. Therefore, in your first session, a Chiropractor always spends a bit more time with you to take a proper history. We need to figure what has happened and why it’s causing you so much distress.
Performing specialised orthopaedic, neurological and some Chiropractic movement tests helps us fill in the pieces and by this stage, it can be determined whether Chiropractic care can be of help to you and your condition.
There are times when you may be sent to get some extra tests, like a diagnostic ultrasound or a set of x-rays to have a better-detailed look at your problem area. The more information your Chiropractor has, the better they can ascertain how they can help you.
However, that help may not always be solely at the hands of your Chiropractor. If it is determined that Chiropractic care may not be right for you at this time, you would be referred to the correct specialist to address your concern.
There is no honourable point in seeing you through a course of treatment and managed care if it is not going to be of benefit to you in the end. This is part of the oath many Chiropractors undertook when graduating, and it is one that we as a profession continue to uphold in our clinics.
