Dr Monica Fiandeiro is a member of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa (CASA), registered with the Board of Health Care Funders (BHF) and a registered practitioner with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA).  

She qualified with her Master’s Degree in Chiropractic from the University of Johannesburg in 2006.  The programme level offered in South Africa is highly academic and a world class degree.  It produces some of the world’s finest Chiropractors and gives its graduates exceptional knowledge, understanding and experience.  Dr Monica is very grateful to have had the opportunity to dedicate her study time for her chosen career path at this fine institution.

Once Dr Fiandeiro attained her degree, she wasn’t quite ready to start just yet.  A once in a lifetime opportunity in Namibia opened up shortly after qualifying and six weeks later, she started work at a practice in Windhoek.  What was meant to be an 8-month position turned into a two and a half year ‘real-world’ education of how to run a practice and deal with a multitude of wonderful human characters.   Many of the cases that came into the clinic were certainly not textbook cases which leant itself as a brilliant opportunity to learn and expand her knowledge base.  It is here that her interest blossomed into a more open-minded approach to how Chiropractic can help not only musculo-skeletal conditions, but could also be extended into a more integrated systemic approach to health and wellness.

Upon returning to South Africa, Dr Fiandeiro opened up her private practice in 2011 after doing some locally based locum work. Opening her own practice has given her the opportunity to fulfil her purpose.  

“Working with goal-orientated people inspires me daily.  Helping to focus, facilitate and guide those I work with, towards attaining their health and wellness goals is what drives me.  I am so privileged to mentor and support individuals that seek to live into their highest potential”, says Dr Monica.

Monica lives in Johannesburg with her husband Kenneth and two tripod dogs, Logan and Diego.  Besides time with her family, she is keen on DIY projects, photography, pencil drawings and her vegetable garden (a staple in any Portuguese family home).

Helen started her working career as a Medical Researcher with the South African Institute for Medical Research, in the Biochemistry Department.

Her career path continued to span across many other sectors once she left the medical field.  Venturing into the Quality Control Department of the OK Bazaars, long term employment as school secretary with St. Teresa’s Mercy School and then onto administration at a construction company, has allowed Helen to develop a very well rounded body of experience in both her professional and personal life.

All of this whilst having to care for and raise her 2 daughters, Helen has proven to be a remarkable lady.

Shortly after being retrenched from her administration work in construction, Helen applied for and was offered the position of Office Administrator for Dr Monica Fiandeiro.  In essence, her world went full circle from Medical Research along diverse paths back to the Medical Field where she is most at home. “And home it most surely is!”, says Helen.  “I have really enjoyed working for Dr Monica who is so kind and caring, really going the extra mile for her patients and me too!”.

Since joining the practice in 2017, her attention to system development, accounts, detailed administration and general life experience has made her an invaluable asset to our clinic

“The variety of paths I have taken have  helped me become who I am, to be able to deal with many aspects of life, from empathising with patients hobbling in great pain and their joy at being able to almost dance out, handling the admin needed to keep everything ship-shape and under control to managing the ins and outs of the Wellness Centre as a whole.”

As Head Administrator, she is the welcoming personality you will hear from on the phone and deal with over email, all whilst she takes care of the front office (and behind the scenes admin), keeping the clinic running better than any well-oiled machine.

Helen’s life outside of work is largely taken up by voluntary work with The South African Lipizzaner’s of Kyalami.  If there is any spare time left over – Helen has always enjoyed reading a wildly eclectic range of genres and also, when time permits, embroidery.
